About Me
My name is Mara Pitcher
I’m a born and bred Southside Irish artist figuring it out in North Texas. Join me for some color, kindness and healing. My goal is to help others with the art of adulting .
How can I help you?
Licensed Therapist
As a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and Licensed Massage Therapy Instructor. I am a constant student of healing. I began my journey as a healer in 2003 when I worked as a Vet Tech and then later worked in medical administration. Being a caregiver and helping bring comfort and healing to others is my purpose. I hope the content I share helps others heal while easing the challenges we all face as adults.
Gardener
I started gardening as a small child but more consistently tending my own garden in 2006. I received formal training with my local Extension office in 2021. I regularly work in local research gardens dedicated to Earth Kind gardening practices to save the bees and better our planet. I also lovingly tend my own garden of 500+ plants that I get to share with my friends and clients. All gardening advice is based on my personal experience.
Homeowner
In 2012 my husband and I bought what we called a ‘fixer-upper’, but what the bank called ‘uninhabitable’. Every inch of our property has been transformed over time and I’m happy to share what we have learned along the way. Home maintenance, organization, and how interior design impacts wellness are some topics I’m passionate about.
Researcher
During my academic career my award winning research focused on how society coped with trauma. But in 2018 I walked away from a formal academic career to pursue my own research. My thesis took an in-depth analysis of trauma during pandemics and the intersects between diseases and transgenerational trauma. Because all human beings are impacted by trauma I hope to inspire healing through my research and my work. I certified as a therapist in a somatics program to understand how my career intersects with the treatment of pathologies through the mind-body connection.
Creative
Gardening, interior design, writing and my career in bodywork are all creative fields. Everyday is a new adventure in creativity. I hope to share my photography from my travels and my daily life as well as the lessons I learn along the way to inspire you to pursue your own adventures in creativity.
Human
Ultimately this is a personal blog and as you get to know me there will be bits and pieces of my story that don’t fit neatly into the boxes of home ownership, horticulture, or healing. There are aspects of my lived experience that give me a unique point of view. I have lived a very colorful life and I could not be more grateful for the way all my experiences have shaped me to become who I am. Kindness is my guiding principal. I don’t always get it right, but I keep showing up. I promise to always try to do better than yesterday.
